What an amazing and delicious surprise this unpretentious little Chinese restaurant turned out to be. EVERYTHING we ordered was beautifully and expertly prepared, steaming hot right out of this incredible kitchen! Let's start with the appetizers: the tofu vegetable soup was perfection, chock full of FRESH broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, snow peas, baby corn and onion, not to mention a similarly generous amount of silken tofu. The broth was flavorful, homemade tasting and NOT salty. We loved it! The steamed dumplings looked hand made and were literally stuffed to the gills with a moist, slightly tangy yet gently seasoned beef and pork mixture. Fantastic. The crab Rangoon, omg, a favorite of our daughter's who insisted we try, was another overly generous appetizer (maybe 6-8 of them?) of large, crispy wontons filled with a heavenly creamy crab filling. Our daughter got the cashew chicken. She could not finish the huge portion but raved about how tender the chicken dish was in its lovely sauce, and showed me the overflowing amount of cashews that arrived in it. I ordered theHunan Shrimp and was so happy that I did. It's listed as spicy but not was overpoweringly hot at all, just a perfect bite of heat. It arrived piping hot and with at least 8 enormous shrimp, amazingly fresh vegetables including broccoli, red and green bell peppers, onions, carrots, baby corn, and snap peas. Why don't all Chinese restaurants use such fresh and varied ingredients?? My husband got the Kung Po Shrimp and said it was also excellent, although not as spicy as my Hunan version. He loved all the fresh veggies and there were fresh unsalted peanuts generously thrown in too. We had asked for 2 Brown rice portions and one White Rice. Let me tell you, we got THE most unusual and incredibly delicious Rice containers, I can't believe I'm even raving about the rice! But one brown rice came loaded with fresh vegetables and the other with really hearty gourmet brown style rice mixed in with the brown rice. Amazing and had a slightly nutty flavor. One word of advice, the portions are large! We ordered way too much but now have an entire meal of leftovers for tomorrow! Everything was ready in record time and came out hot and fresh. The prices are beyond reasonable. I have not had anything better or more fresh tasting in Chinatown in either Philadelphia or NYC. I really am happily surprised to have found such authentic and superbly prepared Chinese food in Columbia County. The young, talented owners/chefs, whose young daughter was adorably helping out, are all lovely by way. Highly recommend!
Our food on Christmas Day was fresh, hot, and tasty. The rice was fluffy and the lo neon wasn't disgustingly greasy like that dish tends to be. I ordered moo goo gai pan and the chicken was tender, veggies were fresh. We enjoyed all of our dishes!
Old school Chinese takeout. Food was well prepared, hot and good prices. What more can you say, glad they have been able to stay open.
I moved to this area 3 months ago and have been looking for a good takeout place. The closest to my home was unimpressive, so I tried places on my way home from shopping, doc appointments, etc. Five different places, and I couldn't improve on unimpressive. Today, I went over to Chatham, and brought home a delicious meal. Crispy fried wontons with a well-seasoned filling, egg rolls, again crispy and very flavorful. Steamed dumplings, a little doughy, were delicious. I ordered beef with broccoli and shrimp with garlic sauce also. Both were delicious. I asked that the garlic sauce be milder, and they complied. The shrimp were fresh and tender. Sauces were also very good. These dishes are what I order to test and compare. I will definitely return. The restaurant itself is a classic storefront takeout. There are a few tables, The best Chinese food I've had so far in this area.
Hi : I had lunch Special; Scallops with Hot Garlic Sauce, and small wonton soup, all very delicious. Vegetables were fresh, and plentiful, and cooked perfectly, very healthy. Scallops fresh. Rice nice. I recommend this meal! - TJ
